Centrica is buying into Sizewell C, a new 3.2GW nuclear power station under construction in Suffolk in south east England; once operational, the plant is expected to produce electricity equivalent to about 7% of current UK demand.
The deal gives Centrica a 15% equity stake in Sizewell C (Holdings) Limited with committed construction funding of GBP 1.3 billion.
Post-closing, Centrica will be one of five principal owners alongside HM Government, La Caisse, EDF and Amber Infrastructure; the investment follows an equity raise process that Centrica joined more than two years ago.
